Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" was the first single released from The Bodyguard Soundtrack, and it became the largest-selling commercial single in history and stayed at #1 on the U.S. Hot 100 singles chart for a record-breaking 14 weeks. The movie also broke box office records worldwide, earning more than $410 million and establishing Whitney as a force to be reckoned with as both a singer and actress. Whitney took home three Grammys in 1993, and two of them are pictured here -- Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance Female for "I Will Always Love You." Whitney also won the night's most coveted award -- Album of the Year for The Bodyguard Soundtrack.
Whitney Houston performed with close friends BeBe and CeCe Winans during the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards wearing this fully beaded dress. To the upper left side of the dress, you can see Whitney in a photograph wearing this dress during that performance. Whitney recorded with BeBe and CeCe several times during her career and also went on tour with them, turning down other projects at times to show support for her friends.
Whitney Houston won her second Grammy Award, pictured here, in 1988 for Best Pop Vocal Performance Female for the song "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)." Whitney opened the Grammys that night by performing the song with her full touring band. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" became Whitney's fourth #1 single on the U.S. Hot 100 chart, and served as the lead single from her second album, Whitney. That album became the first by a female artist in music history to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
