So in essence it's like having two 12/13 room studios right next to each other. If you prefer this type of privacy, this is the place for you. This facility is located only 2 miles from the Anaheim location.

Small rooms here start at $325 per month & go up from there. The largest rooms at our WLA facility run at $1500 per month, usually rented to record companies for artist development. This is where it all got started, our very 1st studio was opened here many moons ago. The West LA location is the flagship of our operation, we have 6 buildings basically on the same block housing over 130 individual studios. At any given time, there are so many musicians in the alley way between our buildings that the local businesses around us affectionately refer to this area as "TK Town".

In essence it's like having two 20 room studios right on top of each other. We are located only 1 mile from the Las Vegas Strip, you can actually see a perfect view of the Stratosphere Tower from some of our 2nd story rooms. This building used to be the LV Home offices for broadcasting giant NBC. Many in the biz refer to this building as "The Glass House" because the facade of this beautiful facility is finished in all tinted glass panels.

MUSIC PRODUCTION

We are willing to produce a solo artist or group in only 2 situations:
#1. We see great potential to market a complete package to Record & Management Companies.
#2. We are being paid by either the Record Company, Management Company or the Artist to complete the project at hand.

We will not allow any production under the TK name to leave our hands until the tracks sound the absolute best they can sound. We mainly work within the Hip Hop, R&B & Rock Genres but are not opposed to new ideas. Cross over between the styles often results in some of the greatest & most original stuff. TK & Krew love to work with various artists in the studio, honing their craft & creating new music. There's nothing more satisfying than pumping that finished product through those 8" M-Audio speakers at full blast. For us, this is the ultimate creative outlet.

OUR PHILOSIPHY

Our goal is to produce music that gives people goose bumps... music that makes people dance, cry or sing along... music that inspires people to crank it up & just not give a f*ck for 5 minutes out of their day... just to create Awesome music.

An open relationship between the artist & the producer is the key to a successful final product. Some people say “it’s just business” BS! Music is very personal & if it isn’t it usually sucks. We expect an artist to pour his or her heart, anger, frustration, lust, ambition, sadness & any other emotion you can think of into the music. When the recording is through, the artist & producer should both be drained & ready to take a break just to replenish all the emotions left in the studio.

On a technical level, we believe the beat & the way it’s recorded is key to a tight foundation. The beat is what moves the soul & the body to follow. There’s a lot of freedom with the rest of the instruments as long as the beat is laid down correctly. As we all know, the vocals are the most recognizable instrument to the listener. The way the lyrics are projected & recorded are again key to an awesome sounding song… no one wants to sing along to a boring or uninspired melody. We know this probably sounds really obvious to you, but have you heard some of the crap being produced out there? Sometimes there is no regard for the basic principles of tracking. We believe for the most part, the simpler the solution, the better the result.

A few negatives to avoid:
#1. Come prepared! Don't make the music suffer because you don't know your part. It's also a waste of time for everyone else working in the studio.
#2. Individual egos are the biggest killers of great music... everyone must check any self righteousness at the door. Every opinion in the studio is valid & should be heard out with an open mind. Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected person in the room.
#3. Always play for the song, not for yourself. Some musicians just love to hear themselves jam, not really thinking about what’s best for the track. Just because something is technically difficult to play doesn’t mean it sounds good or fits into a particular tune.

In other words... Be Professional

Many aspects within the music are totally subjective, just a matter of taste or opinion. For us this is the fun part, making everyone’s ideas work together. Again & we can’t stress this enough... the bottom line is to produce AWESOME music.

MASTERING

All of our mastering is done at Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA. We would like to thank Evren Gokner for all the great work he has done for us over the years. Not only is he blessed with ears for finishing up the project but has a great propensity to work with the artist/producer to meet their goals in the mastering studio. There’s no doubt that you have heard his work on many of today's popular tunes without even knowing it.

LOOKING 4 FRESH NEW TALENT

In the spring of 2010 we start production on a Hip Hop / R&B compilation CD to shop to management & record companies in the fall. The compilation will consist of 12-15 tracks featuring many different artists & styles within the Hip Hop & R&B genres. Most of the music is written already but if someone has a Phat track to add to the mix, we are willing to listen. When the final product is finished & packaged, TK Productions will host a well promoted live showcase to push the CD & its artists to the industry & public. If you would like to get involved, read the paragraph directly below.

Can u bust out a tight rap? Can u sing with the soul of an R&B angel? Are u willing to do everything it takes to make magic in the studio & on the stage? We’re looking 4 some fresh new talent, a few diamonds in the rough, male & female to work & complete this project. If we have the privilege of working together, we’ll ask for no $ from you… only your dedication to the music & this project. TK Productions & the talent involved will get paid only if & when an artist or track gets picked up by a record label or management company.

RECORDING & MANAGEMENT CONTRACTS..

Every artist or band whom we've ever helped broker a deal rehearsed or still rehearses at one of our 9 facilities. We prefer to work in house, this gives us a chance to get more intimately connected with the project involved.

Whether a group or artist is being developed, practicing for an up coming tour or writing new music for a soon to be released CD, just about every major label or subsidiary has rented a studio from us at least once. This in turn has introduced us to many A&R reps, management companies, entertainment lawyers, booking agents & various others within the music industry. We cherish every one of these relationships for these contacts are not so easy to make, let alone hang on to.

The first development contract we ever brokered happened by mistake. At the time we had just opened our 2nd rehearsal facility in WLA. One of the record companies renting from us at the time asked if we had any talented R&B singers workin’ it down at TK Prod. A beautiful & talented girl whose name we won’t mention had just moved into a vacant room. We heard her practicing a couple times while walking the halls of our studio... awesome voice! We set up a meeting between the label & artist, within a week a development deal was signed, sealed & delivered. We received a nice check in the mail & from that moment on we took our “middle man” position between the artists & the record companies a lot more seriously.

We realize we have to be very careful not to send our contacts just anything. Most companies know if they receive a package of an individual artist or group from TK Productions, it’s probably at least pretty damn good if not awesome. Our reputation is at stake every time something new is solicited, that’s why it is imperative that we submit only complete packages in which we really believe in.

COMPILATION CD

Over the years we’ve been asked this question again & again by various contacts: Do we have a current compilation CD representing the music being created at our TK Productions’ facilities? The answer is no… our thinking was it cost more to put a comp together & get it into the right hands than it was worth. The truth is we never really know what a particular A&R rep or manager is looking for unless they tell us. Unfortunately we can’t work to refine every band or artist that rehearses at our studios, there’s just too much talent to handle at one time.

Here’s our idea…

Many bands & artists within our walls are writing, recording & producing a lot of great finished product on their own. Most are workin’ it overtime trying to create a fan base, make contacts & get their music out there for people to hear… not an easy game. What if everyone that wants to be involved submits a track of their choosing & chipped in to pay for all that’s necessary to master, package & deliver a pro comp CD to the record labels, radio stations (both college & independent) & other relevant contacts? With 15-20 tracks being mastered onto one disc, the cost would be minimal per project. If just one deal gets made off one of our comps… it’ll snowball. Let’s face it, when a 3rd party company sends material to the industry the contacts take the package more seriously. It shows that someone else in the biz besides the artist believes in the music. We want the industry to continue to look within our studios as the place to find up & coming talent. Only with creative ideas of getting new tunes to our industry contacts, can we attempt to create a buzz for our bands & artists at TK Productions.

Every project involved will receive 10 comp CDs, the rest get distributed.

There will be 2 comp CDs manufactured per cycle, one Rock oriented & one Hip Hop/R&B oriented. All TK compilation CDs will always be of the same genre within the same disc, we want our comps to flow professionally from track to track. We will send the appropriate CD to the appropriate A&R rep at each company, Rock comps to Rock reps & Hip Hop/R&B comps to Urban reps. Most companies have more than one A&R rep within, so for the most part we will be sending multiple comp packages to each label attempting to get the attention of each & every contact. Every listed college & independent radio station throughout the United States will receive both the Rock & Urban comps. The students/DJs running their own shows have the freedom to spin whatever music they wish, we want to give them both options depending on the taste of each individual DJ. Below is a list of record labels & college/independent radio stations that will receive our comp package. Various other industry contacts will also be added to our mailing list.

Whether you are a Model, Actor, Band, Solo Artist or Musical Group…

U need photos!!!

To the industry & public, your photo image is most likely to be the very first representation they'll see before diving deeper into you & your craft. Your visual first impression must excite & entice the observer to want to know more about the person or group behind the photo… If not, what you have to offer as an artist may never be brought to the surface. Photos are used to advertise our image on the internet, print ads, zed cards, billboards, leaflets, business cards, when signing autographs, etc & most importantly when sending pro packages to the industry in which we are involved. Make sure the images that you’re using to push your career really represent what you want to betray as an artist. As you’ve heard many times & there’s a whole lot of truth to it… you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

If you just moved to Los Angeles and are an aspiring Model, Actor or Solo Artist... TK Productions is the first place you should call for your photography needs. As a band, dance or musical group we suggest you wait until you are a tight unit within before spending your $ to take professional photos. Our photography studio is located in the heart of the Melrose Fashion District right on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, CA. The facility is situated on the 2nd floor of a 2 story building just above many interesting shops & clothing boutiques. The energy on the streets below alone creates a great motivating atmosphere to capture great studio images. When shooting just outside our studio, this location gives us plenty of different & unique urban backgrounds to choose from when trying to capture a certain look for any given client. Our staff is an experienced group of photographers that will work with you on a 1 on 1 basis to get u the pics you need to meet your goals. From the cameras to the lenses to the lighting to the backgrounds, our equipment is all top of the line modern professional gear. We’ve shot everything from celebrities to fashion to live shows to head shots, etc… whatever u need done, we are more than prepared to handle it.

PRICING & HOW WE OPERATE

We charge $400 for a 3 hour shoot, this includes an experienced photographer, pro equipment & our photography studio if needed. We shoot everything in digital format, this allows us to take hundreds of pictures during any given photo shoot. Unlike most photo studios & photographers who want to charge you again by the picture, when the session is finished we will transfer all the photo images to a CDR disc & hand it to you on the spot. The pictures become your property immediately.

TK Productions does not do finishing or print work, we only involve ourselves in the actual photo shoot itself. For over 20 years we have gone to Image Experts located on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA for these services. They do excellent lab work at a good price but of course once you have your images the choice is yours.

When the photo session takes place at our photography studio, we try to do a mixture of studio & outdoor shots depending on what look the client is going for. When the photo session takes place on location or away from our studio like a runway shoot, red carpet event or live show we will spend the 3 hours shooting the function according to the client's instructions.

COME PREPARED

Don’t waste your time or your money!
Follow the basic directions below to help ensure a successful photo session:

#1. Practice your poses & facial expressions in the mirror before the shoot... figure out what looks you like about yourself & what you want to portray to the public.
#2. Pick & choose the clothing & fashion items you want to wear… again check yourself out in the mirror to get the different looks you are trying to capture.
#3. Bring any props you want to use to the shoot… nothing is over the top. Usually the more the envelope is pushed, the better the images turn out.
#4. Express to your photographer what your photo shoot goals are… what different ideas u have, what these images are going to be used for, etc.
#5. Listen to your experienced photographer: Much like a recording artist & producer in the studio, an open minded relationship between photographer & subject are the key to producing an awesome finished product.
#6. Don’t be shy or embarrassed in any way, this will only result in bad images. Put it all out there, don’t be afraid, give it all u got, etc...

GO FOR IT!!!

Great group or band photos get a little more difficult to capture. If just one person in the group has the wrong look or facial expression, the photo is worthless. Get together using the guidelines above & work it to reach your photography goals.

It was just 6 months after the birth of our company that the 1st

“TK Girl”

graced the small print ads we were running at the time. We quickly realized that these beautiful, lovely smiles were drawing attention to our advertisements, thus bringing in more business. Since then we have photographed hundreds of beautiful young women for our ongoing TK Girl campaign.

Throughout the 90s & early 2000s, we threw huge events featuring MCs, Live Music & of course the main attraction; our TK Girl Dance Contests. These ads & events were so highly successful that some of the girls went on to do bigger & better things within the business. For example: some were chosen to do work in video shoots, print work, motion picture rolls, promotional events, dance groups, TV work, reality shows, commercials, modeling contracts, etc.

To this day we still run our TK Girl campaign with much success. Along with our print ads, the internet has really taken over as our main source of advertising giving our company & the girls much more exposure. We are proud to continue to help many of our lovely ladies get their careers started by displaying their images & personalities to the public & industry at large. We would also like to thank each & every one of them for helping our business to continue to grow for over 20 years.

DOMINIQUE MODEL & TALENT:

Let us give you a little history about Dominique Lafayette & her thriving agency. When we met Dominique she was still in High School & expressed interest in posing as a TK Girl model in our ads. With her awesome personality, obvious good looks & her parents permission… we were more than happy to oblige. We believe this may have been her very 1st photo session. Years later she posed for us once again with a whole new professional attitude towards the shoot… at this point the girl had been around the block a few times & now knew how to work those camera angles. Needless to say, the images of this beautiful young woman came out fantastic. A year or so later Dominique founded the CH Modeling Agency with much success. As her client list grew, so did her stable of talent propelling her to be one of the most respected model/talent agents in the biz.
