In 1959, Berry Gordy gathered the best musicians from Detroit's thriving jazz and blues scene to begin cutting songs for his new record company. Starting with an $800 loan, Gordy turned MOTOWN RECORDS and Detroit, Michigan into "HITSVILLE U.S.A."

Between 1959 and 1972,  this unheralded group of musicians had played on MORE # 1 HITS than the

> BEACH BOYS,
> the ROLLING STONES,
> ELVIS
> and the BEATLES ... COMBINED ~

which makes them the GREATEST HIT MACHINE in the history of popular music.

These great musicians called themselves simply
the FUNK BROTHERS.

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN THE SHADOW OF MOTOWN
AND OWE MUCH TO ITS RICH MUSICAL LEGACY.

A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EVE MESSAGE ...

IN HONOR OF THE BIRTH OF JESUS ON CHRISTMAS, I GIVE YOU THE FOLLOWING ON THE LIFE OF JESUS ...

"Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30, and then for 3 years He was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a BOOK. He never HELD AN OFFICE. He never OWNED A HOME. He never had a FAMILY. He never went to COLLEGE. He never put his foot inside a big city. He never traveled 200 miles from the place where he was born. He never did ONE OF THE THINGS that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but HIMSELF.

While still a young man, the TIDE OF POPULAR OPINION turned against him. He was turned over to his ENEMIES. He went through the MOCKERY OF A TRIAL. He was nailed to a Cross between two thieves. His executioners gambled for the ONLY PIECE OF PROPERTY he had on earth while he was dying—and that was his robe.

When he was dead he was taken down and laid in a BORROWED GRAVE through the pity of a friend. He AROSE FROM THE DEAD and ascended into HEAVEN. Twenty centuries have come and gone.
